TAIL-GATE SPREADER:
Gravity Feed Tailgate Chip Spreader, designed for spreading granular stone/aggregate materials to roadways, for surface-treatment-type paving.
How it Works: By elevating the dump body the aggregate is delivered to an adjustable feed-gate. The 100” wide chip spreader has a feed-gate which is segmented into 8 one-foot wide sections, each can be opened/closed independently. This allows the spread width to be adjusted in one foot increments. Each gate is connected to the Master Operating Rod by a removable chained pin.
Platform: A rear mounted operator’s platform is included with safety tread and guard rail. Platform is set at an angle so as to be at an approximate horizontal position when dump body is elevated.
Aggregates: Various size aggregates can be dispensed from the GS Spreader.
Mounting: Designed to mount on a standard dump body in place of the tailgate. Remove the existing tailgate. Lock the GS Spreader lower pins into the lower latch on the dump body. Raise the chip spreader into position. Once the upper portion of the GS Spreader is aligned against the back of your dump body, mark the proper position of the pins. Your welder will weld the upper pins into the precise position to fit the upper latch.
Measuring: How to measure spreader to fit your dump-struck:
Height: Measure from inside box from floor to top of existing tail gate
Width: Measure across from a flat part of the rear inside of body side walls.
(If you have rounded corners in the bottom, measure from a flat part above this area.)
Height Extensions: If your dump body tailgate height exceeds 32” then you will need to purchase an extension in which case the spreader height will be built taller to make up the difference, thereby preventing material from spilling over the top while discharging.
Width: If your width is not 7’ or 7’ 3”, then you have a non-standard sized dump box, for which we do not provide a spreader.
Optional Gate Height Extension: from 33" up to 50” EXTRA COST applies. (standard gate heights are 32")
